I received this inspiring text from the Black River Middle School principal in Chester, NJ.

“Can we schedule dates for next year? You helped our kids. I had parents tell me their children received text messages from other students apologizing  for their behavior. Thank you. You have a special gift.”

Keith Dunn recently gave his Cyber Safety Seminar Presentation at Long Hill Chapel. Those

who attended are well aware that the cyber world can be a dangerous one, and we came

unsure of how we can best protect our children. Keith not only gave us relevant information as

to the realities of the Internet, he also provided us with resources to help protect ourselves and

our children as we spend more time on the Web and in social media. It is clear that Keith is

both deeply knowledgeable on the topic of cyber safety and passionate for equipping others. His

vibrant personality held our attention for the duration of the event; I believe many parents would

have appreciated even more time with him. Keith engaged with the audience and asked for

questions; when we seemed apprehensive he assured us we would be okay. As a parent of two

young children, I have been fearful of the potential harm that can come to them via the Internet.

I now feel empowered! The information I received through this seminar has given me the vital

tools I need to set up protections not only on our home computer, but all our technology devices.

I would highly recommend his seminar to churches, schools, civic groups…anyone who is

willing to listen!!

Secrets St. James in Montego Bay, Jamaica is the Greatest Place on Earth

October 30, 2014 at 6:41 pm | Posted in Uncategorized | Leave a comment

My wife and I visited Secrets St. James in Montego Bay, Jamaica in August for our first year anniversary. We had been to the Secrets Resorts and Spas in the Dominican Republic for our honeymoon but the resort in Montego Bay was a dream come true.

This resort, Secrets St. James in Montego Bay, not only met but exceeded our expectations and impressed my wife and me so much that we ended up convincing my mother in law to cancel her vacation to the Bahamas in order to visit Secret St. James in Montego Bay Jamaica.

The resort was beyond paradise. The water was so clear, and the beaches were literally raked, by hand, every morning. The best part of the resort is the staff.  Can I just say that they have the most kind, excited, and caring staff in the world.  From check in to check out, everyone bent over backwards to make sure that we had an amazing time.  The greatest thing was the fact that they were treating all of their guests like royalty.

From the managers, to the Butlers, especially Travis, and even the gardeners maintaining the property couldn’t have been more amazing.  One of the maintenance guys who was cutting the grass stopped to ask me how my visit was going.  Once I told him how amazing it was he asked if I got a fresh coconut yet.  When I told him no, he immediately climbed up a tree, cut down a coconut and prepared it for me to drink.  THAT IS AMAZING SERVICE.

Barrels of ice cold bottles of water to grab, on the go, all over the resort to the delicious drinks; nothing could ever make this place any better.

Okay, okay. The food was to die for.  We never felt rushed and the flavors were out of this world. Snacks, drinks, and room service around the clock was great too.

Please don’t let me forget the amazingly talented entertainment team; especially entertainers like Hennessy, Alex…….. I mean EVERYONE.

Don’t listen to the lies either. The resort is as safe as can be and going down town to the “strip”, I heard, is a fun and exciting family or couples party and tourist place to go to gamble, shop, or just walk around.

NO ONE is treated different in Jamaica. It was so relaxing to be amongst such a laid back culture who truly care about each other as well as their guests.

I will be sending a letter to the CEO, COO, and every manager of a Secrets resort in the world to make sure that they model there locations from St. James in Montego Bay.

Did I mention the Butler service? Our Butler Travis was funny, and yet still very professional. He made our experience a dream come true.  St. James was superfluous.

If you want to be pampered in paradise, don’t think twice. My wife and I travel a lot and I am saying, GO GO GO GO.

Steve Harvey Show ……Very upset

September 25, 2014 at 9:37 pm | Posted in Uncategorized | Leave a comment

Steve,

Mr. Harvey,

My name is Keith Dunn and I LOVE your show.  I am a former detective/ member of the National Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, currently the President of the kdcopfoundation.org, a professional speaker, entertainer, author, serviced connected honorably disabled veteran, and a volunteer firefighter.  Let me just start out by saying again that I love your show and watch it as religiously everyday as the “Ellen Show” which is on immediately after your show.  Today you had a question from a young lady who is involved with a member of the FDNY for over/almost 13 years.  Her main concern was that her boyfriend has been working 24 hour shifts and he falls, or wants to sleep, while he is “with” her.  When you began to beat around the bush I started laughing like when I normally watch your show, and then it became real…

The young lady asking the question was obviously upset and hurting for only a suggestion from you.  As the jokes continued and you told stories about yourself, you never really got back to her question, which, I think is a very interesting, not like you, and most likely should be answered by a professional counseling therapist.  In fact, since I know you are a busy man, let me go ahead and try to provide a solution or some advice to her issue.

Ma’am,

I truly feel your hurt and can empathize with what you are going through.  I can even guarantee that your boyfriend for 13 years barely dialogues with you and has a hard time keeping up with the conversation even when he does.  Any FDNY, or firefighter out there will tell you the same thing.  Almost every minute of sleep that does get during his 24 hour shift, he has to wake up out of a dead sleep, has to turn “it” on at a moment’s notice, and after putting an enormous weight of firefighting “gear” on, for most times between one to eight hour each time the bell rings, he has an extremely large amount of adrenaline and cortisol running through his blood which, in the long term is not healthy.  When he gets “down time”, away from the station, I am sure that his heart, head, and mind just want to be held and feel safe by someone who loves him.  Since you have been together for 13 years, I am assuming that he has shown, or told you this in one way or another.  My advice is to talk to him and find out what his work schedule is like then try to come to a date night compromise.  I know that sometimes, the perfect date night with my wife is a great home cooked meal, then just relaxing on the couch with her in my arms watching a movie.  If your man has a home cooked meal with you, starts watching something to take his mind off the “job”, with you in his arms, he is most likely going to fall asleep.

I would suggest letting him have a day of rest, alone, just to decompress, sleep, or do whatever it is that he needs to do to regain the energy to stay in this “long” 13 year BF/GF relationship.  You might have to give him one to three full days of rest.  Now, I am not saying that you should leave him alone to do nothing but “veg. out” on the couch for those days, yet I am saying that maybe he NEEDS the sleep.  I would also be considerate and ask him to please contact his primary health care provide to check on his “thyroid function” or any other potential medical conditions causing him to be so tired.

In conclusion, your man works a 24 hour a day job where he never gets to rest, and when he does, back at the fire house, most of the time he gets tossed out of bed, turning “it” on, and racing out of the firehouse into the unknown wearing that heavy gear for most of the 24 hours that he is working.  Be understanding, loyal, and committed but…..Don’t ever let yourself get walked on or pushed to the side when you are both in an open and honest relationship.

That is my personal belief and feeling on the matter of the question that was asked to Mr. Steve Harvey.

If Mr. Steve Harvey or the young lady would like to respond you can contact me from my website at www.kdcopfoundation.org a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization.

Warmest Regards,

Keith P. Dunn

iCloud Security Breach Update

September 3, 2014 at 10:48 am | Posted in Uncategorized | Leave a comment

New York 4 reports that Apple made a statement that they had absolutely had no breach of the iCloud or “find my iPhone” application.  The hackers that were able to breach some celebrity’s iClouds and get photos was a targeted attack on them personally.

This report from the New York 4 News Team solidifies my personal opinion that I made yesterday.  If you are not famous and just a common, hardworking citizen you should have nothing to fear.

However, I will remind everyone again that what you post or save online can never be 100% safe and secure.

Let’s all learn something from this and just be a smart digital citizen.

iCloud Celebrity Photos Hacked and Shared

So, I heard on the radio first thing this morning that Jennifer Lawrence as well as a few other mainstream celebrities had their iCloud files hacked into and posted online to expose some pretty revealing photos.  Some of which were fake, digitally altered nude photos, and some were legitimate.  A few minutes ago I turned on Access Hollywood and the breaking news was about the very same topic.  As a former undercover internet detective, an internet safety expert, professional speaker as well as the president for the KDCOP Foundation, http://www.kdcopfoundation.org, a nonprofit organization, I had to chime in with my two sense.  Sorry about all of the commas.  I get very passionate when it comes to people posting things online and privacy issues.

You see, I get the opportunity to educate millions of students, faculty, parents, and even law enforcement officers about this, as well as other topics related to using the internet in a safe manner.

Since the FBI is now conducting an investigation into the matter I will leave my legal comments out for now.  I think I will chime in once the investigation is concluded.

On a more personal note, it sounded on the radio and on the television that everyone should panic about getting their iClouds, DropBoxes, and any other online storage sites hacked into.  Let’s get real here for a minute.  Everyone should already know that you really should never keep ANYTHING stored online that you wouldn’t want anyone else to see.  I completely understand that it is password protected and you are entitled to the expectation of privacy.  The truth of the matter is keep your private business private and locked up somewhere safe.  Flash drives work great.  This way you can keep everything safe and even secure by locking away your flash drive in a safe place.  I know that this isn’t as convenient as using an online storage site but unless you drop your flash drive on the street, your content is on its own private little hard drive island.  By the way, I will not be getting into any technical, forensic discussions about any online storage sites and will leave that up to the new, technologically aged forensic experts in that field.

My expert opinion is that you should never save or post anything online that you wouldn’t mind the world seeing.

My emotionally charged personal opinion is that who the heck really cares about a common person’s iCloud storage files.  If you are not a major internet sensation, corporate leader of a fortune 500 company, or, as we all saw, a celebrity, then you really don’t have to jump into panic mode.  I am pretty sure that a hacker is not interested in anything that a common citizen puts on their “Cloud”.  Well……Unless you make someone very very angry.
